Akumal Taxi Rates 2026: Essential Travel Info

Getting around from Akumal is easy once you know how the official taxi system works. The sindicato that serves Akumal Norte has published updated 2025-26 taxi rates for trips starting in Akumal, including the arch area, Half Moon Bay, Yal Ku, and the surrounding condos and villas.

All prices on the sheet are in Mexican pesos and are per vehicle, one way. The amounts do not change per person.

Where Akumal taxis pick up

From Akumal you will usually do one of the following:

  • Walk to the taxi stand by the arch in Akumal (next to Plaza Ukana, Parque Tsuuk, Club Akumal Caribe and the dive shops).
  • Request pick up in Akumal Norte or South Akumal and the dispatcher will send a taxi up to your condo or villa.
  • Have your concierge, front desk or host call the taxi on your behalf.

These rates apply when the journey starts in Akumal. If you are traveling from Cancun or Tulum airports into Akumal you will usually pre-book a shuttle or use airport transport services with their own price list.

How the 2025-26 taxi rates are structured

On the official “Tarifas Oficiales Akumal Norte 2025” sheet you will see three columns:

  • 1 to 4 passengers – standard car or small SUV
  • 5 to 8 passengers – larger van
  • 9 to 14 passengers – full passenger van

Example:

  • Akumal to Tulum Centro
  • 1–4 passengers: $850 MXN
  • 5–8 passengers: $1,700 MXN
  • 9–14 passengers: $2,210 MXN

The total is for the whole taxi, not per person.

Always confirm that the driver is using the official sheet. You can ask politely: “¿Me puede mostrar la tarifa oficial de Akumal Norte, por favor?”

These fares are for taxis leaving from Akumal. From the airport to Akumal you will usually reserve a shuttle service separately.

  • Zone 3 – El Pez, Maya Tulum, Kitchen Table, Akiin, Tábano, Amansala Tago, Posada Margarita, La Zebra and nearby: $1,050 MXN
  • Zone 4 – Jungle Market, UMO, Dune, Taboo, Tantra, Chambao, Marea, RosaNegra, Gitano and nearby restaurants and clubs: $1,200 MXN
  • Zone 5 – Tita Tulum, El Arca, Bal Nak, Xcañan, Matcha Mama south, Suenos Tulum, Chiringuito, Nomade, Malca and the far end of the beach road: $1,350 MXN

Your driver will usually confirm the name of your hotel and pick the correct zone according to the list.

For these longer routes, many visitors prefer to arrange a private driver for the day with waiting time and return included. Use the official rate as your benchmark when you negotiate.
